Serum Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) is a laboratory technique used for the qualitative detection and identification of monoclonal proteins, to aid in the diagnosis of monoclonal gammopathies. Immunofixation (IFE) is a quantitative laboratory method used to determine immunoglobulin levels, and it is usually requested when SPE results have indicated an increase in the immunoglobulin level. Quantitation of free light chains can be performed by automated methods using Freelite®.
Binding Site SPE and IFE measure 102 x 77 mm and can be used with most electrophoresis brands.
Each kit contains:
- Individually packaged gels
- Buffer powder
- Protein stain
- Application masks
- Gel, drying and sample blotters
The IFE kit contains antiserum templates and an antisera set containing IgG, IgA, IgM, kappa and lambda, protein fixative and control serum.
